Over 20,000 willows of the variety Super Willow ' Viminalis’ provide the biomass for electricity generation. This is a very fast growing yellow/green variety, with long shoots. It is hardy and vigorous, producing long straight stems with a growth of up to 4m a year.
This can also be used to make bio diesel.
